Chapter Six

I went home, ran to my bedroom and lay on my bed. No-body was home because my Mum and Dad are working until 6 O'clock. I heard a knock on the door and walked down the stairs, looked through the window to see who it was and opened the door. It was Jake. He hugged me and said he heard about what happened with Nick earlier when school ended. I explained that my parents were out working until 6 O'clock and he asked if he could stay over. "Sure, I could use the company." I said with a smile. I haven't smiled since last night when Jake and I were talking. We were watching TV when he kissed me. Our first kiss together. You probably don't want to know what it was like, Do you? Well, I'll tell you anyway. It was amazing, it felt soft and right. Then he started making out with me and it was weird because my stomach had butterflies in it but when Nick kissed me earlier I felt nothing. I heard another knock on the door so I pulled away from Jake and answered it. "I don't want you here, Nick!" I said to him at the door. "Let me talk to you for ten minutes!" He pleaded. "What, so you can tell me what Abigal's lips felt like?!" I yelled with tears in my eyes. "What the hell are you talking about?!" He asked. "You kissed Abigal earlier, I saw you!" I said. "She kissed me." He said. "I'm sorry but I have company here and you know what they say: Three's A Crowd!" I was trying to close the door but he pushed through. "Please, come in(!)" I said sarcastically. "Okay." He said thinking I was being sincere. He saw it was Jake who was there and he said to him "What are you doing here?" "What are you talking about? I came here to talk to Bethany and then she invited me in which I didn't hear her do with you." Jake replied. "I'm going to get a drink." I said then walked to the kitchen. I didn't get a drink. I stood there for a minute then I heard Jake saying Ow! I ran into the living room and saw Jake on the ground bleeding. I yelled to Nick "What the hell do you think you're doing?!" I helped Jake up and said "What did he do to you?" Jake said "He punched me just because I was here and I asked you out." I looked at Nick angrily then blurted out "I hate you, Nick!" I pushed him out of my house then stood there at the door crying. Jake hugged me. "I'm sorry." I said to him. "It's okay. I'm going to go clean myself up." He said to me."Okay" I replied. I stopped crying then felt someone's hand on me. I turned around and it was Nick. "Come here!" He said."I need to talk to you." I didn't know what to say so I just said "You're not who I thought you were before, Nick. You used to be sweet, kind, funny but now, you're some messed up, obsessed freak. And I can't be around that. You like me then you say you don't care about me then you say you do like me then you kiss Abigal Lench and now you're saying you still like me again! It's too confusing, Nick. I'm sorry." Tears were rolling down my cheek. I asked Jake to leave when he came back from the kitchen and he did. Then I just slid my back down the door and started crying.

Chapter Seven

It was the start of another school term. I'd cleared things up with Nick and dumped Jake. I heard there was going to be a new kid in school so I walked up to Nick, Cassie and Megan to ask about it. "Does anyone know who the new kid is?" I asked them. "His name's Austin. Apperantley he got kicked out of this last school and had to go to court for muder." Cassie said. "Murder?" Nick asked. Cassie nodded. "Oh my god, who'd he kill?" Megan asked shocked. "A girl named Ashleigh Reed. It was on the news last year." Cassie said. "I say we try and stay away from him." I said. Everyone nodded. The bell rang. "We better get to class." I said so we went to our classes. Me and Nick are in the same class for English so we walked together.

*In class*

When we'd taken our seats the teacher got up and said "We'd like to introduce a new boy to our class; Austin Monroe." I gave Nick a scared look and he mouthed It's okay. Austin took a seat on one side of me [Nick on the other] I didn't look at Austin until he said to me "I'm Austin Monroe. You are..?" "Bethany," I replied not looking up. "Bethany who?" He asked me. "Mr. Monroe, I know you're knew but you should know that there's no talking in class." The teacher said.

*After class"

The bell rang for lunch. "My favourite lesson - Lunch!" smiled Megan. We all sat down at a table. "Where's Joe and Kevin?" I asked. "In bed with the flu." Nick replied. "Oh okay." I said. "Guess what, guys? Austin is in our English class." "No way!" Cassie said. "Did he say anything to you?" Megan asked. "Just 'I'm Austin Monroe. You are...? and then he asked for my last name aswell." "Don't give him your last name." Nick said. "Why not?" I asked. "I don't want you to get hurt." I gave a Nick a smile.

*At the end of school*

"Do you wanna come over to my house?" I asked them. "Sorry, I have to study for my test." Cassie said. "I have to baby-sit my little brother." Megan said. "Oh, okay. What about you, Nick?" I asked him. "Sure, anything to get away from the flu house." he laughed. Megan and Cassie walked away and Nick drove us to my house. We got out of the car and walked in. "Can I ask you something?" he asked me. "Sure, what is it?" I asked him. We sat down on the sofa. He took a deep breath and asked "Will you be my girlfriend?"
