Chapter 02:
As she pulled the dusty box from the top shelf of her closet, a tear slid down Demi's cheek. She hated lying to her friends and how the old memories hurt her, but she couldn't help but feel somewhat happy when she looked through old albums and gifts.
As she flipped through the album, tears fell and landed on old photos. She forced a small smile the entire time, but her heart nearly stopped when she came across her favorite picture.
It was a sunny day in California, and Joe called Demi in high hopes of taking her out on another date.
He dialed the number as fast as he could, making a mental note to add her to speed dial later.
"Hello?" a tired voice asked from the other line.
"Hey, baby. Wanna come out with me today?"
"Joe, it's seven in the morning."
"Exactly! he yelled excitedly.
"Whatever. Meet me in thirty?"
"Sounds great, see you then."
Click.
Joe dug through his drawers until he found the perfect thing to wear to impress her. He pulled off his pajamas and slipped into dark gray skinny jeans and a baby blue tee. He soon left his house to go pick up his (hopefully) future girlfriend.
"Hey!" she greeted him at the door.
"Ready to go?" He escorted down her front porch steps and out to his car to tell her the plans.

"So, what did you want to tell me?" Demi asked curiously as she shielded her eyes from the sun. Please don't have a girlfriend, she silently begged, not wanting their beautiful morning picnic and past three dates to be ruined in a single sentence.
He swallowed hard. "Will you be my girlfriend?"

Years had past since the amazing moment happened. She sighed as she set the picture of their smiling faces down in its rightful place. Demi still couldn't believe he'd left her so easily, so quickly. She knew the fighting between them had been part of the issue, but couldn't help but wonder what else she may have done. She'd never let her career get in the way of their thriving relationship, nor did she cancel a single date - but he had. Joe would cancel several dates when he and his brothers didn't even have a show scheduled for the evening. And even though he treated her like royalty to make up for the missed dates, Joe still felt horrible that he left Demi to sit alone while she should have been with him: her first love.
whoo, blast from the past much? i would do another flashback, but i have a doctor's appointment in Boston tomorrow morning. i hope you enjoy this!
